Equilibria is a company that provides personalized CBD products and services for women. In my UX senior capstone, I was in a team of 6 designers proposed an onboarding quiz for Equilibria.

Problem
Since the product is personalized based on customer wants and needs, Equilibria is looking for a way to expand the product-consumer relationship to understand customer and help them experience great products.

Solution
Create an onboarding quiz which understands the client’s needs to create an emotionally supportive environment for users to feel connected when social interactions are limited to virtual presence.

Before working on our solution, we started researching to have a better understand the scope of our problem.

We found that Equilibria tries to create a strong connection with their customers through a personalized experience when purchasing CBD for the first time. They want to understand their customers' needs and educate them on how CBD can help improve their lifestyles, which we found that other competitors do not keep that in mind. 

During the research, we gathered that an onboarding quiz would be the best approach to create a stronger personalized connection with brand Equilibria.

I mapped out the buying process of client and consultation process of specialist to better understand the user journey.


Due to limitation on specialist number, specialist could not talk to all potential clients. Specialist can only help client to find their needs through email before purchasing. Therefore, I realized that having an onboarding quiz can help specialist collect essential information which help them to give client best product advices.

We finalized key insights from research and made decisions on what to focus on.

We developed wireframes to start our initial user testing.

We spent most of the time think of what information we need to collect during the onboarding quiz to get as much information as possible so that dosage specialist can help customers with right products.

Based on user testing, we determined that the following changes should be made.

  • Update the beginning to better introduce customers to quiz.

    • Add “Estimated Time”

  • Update pharmacy slide

    • Add skip option.

    • Condense input text fields / Use “add more” instead of multiple text fields. 

  • Select the product that was purchased/used/to be discussed with your dosage specialist

  • Next button alignment

  • Add a note for when you will receive dosage from a dosage specialist.

  • Add an explanation on why we need customers' phone numbers.

  • Move “Is this your first time using CBD?” slide to the front*

  • Figuring out how customers will schedule their call with the dosage specialist?

  • This is a great opportunity for me to work with real client and real-life project. I improved my UX skills and communication skill as well. Working with my teammate and client gave me chance to learn and get great experience.

  • Presenting my ideas to teammate and client was also a good chance for me to improve my presentation skill and learn how to express and illustrate appropriate information that client is looking for.

  • This is a great opportunity for me to work with real client and real-life project. I improved my UX skills and communication skill as well. Working with my teammate and client gave me chance to learn and get great experience.
